won’t power up

won’t power up
Q:”Just got a laptop battery. Out the box, it won’t start. AC lights come on, the hard drive makes a little thump-noise, and everything shuts off for a few seconds, then it tries to start again, fails… If I try to turn off the computer (by holding the power button down for 5 seconds) it doesn’t shut off the computer(dell Inspiron E1705 battery). I’m so mad that I just got the damned thing, and it’s already a useless, blinking slab of aluminum. Should I return this thing, get a Dell… or spring for a Mac? I’ve got a little Dell Inspiron 2200, and it’s like the little engine that could… just keeps chugging along faithfully. I want to throw this beautiful piece of **** against the wall and sue anyone who tries to console me! The Amazon dealer I bought it from tells me to jiggle the RAM sticks and see if that helps, but I don’t want to end up with a high-maintenance laptop that I have dell Inspiron 6000 battery (dell 6000 battery) to continually jiggle, adhere duct tape to, or otherwise rig just to get it to work! I need a hug right now…”

Same experience, DV9060. Called dell, they tried having me do the reset by unplugging and removing battery then holding power button for 45 seconds to release static charge. Hitting power again showed same result(dell Inspiron 9300 battery). Holding F10 at startup did not bring up the BIOS screen so I was told it would require a motherboard replacement.
Waiting now for call about warranty approval, then for them to send me a package to mail it for service.

Stannis was completely right about this issue and there being an extended warranty on the dell dv9000, there are multiple other machines that are also affected by this, so if you are having these kind of issues, bring up his link and call dell, I expected to get the run around, but the dell support was quick to help me once I brought up the extended warranty from thier dell Inspiron 9400 batterywebsite. The first tech I talked to the other day said that I would have to pay about 500 for the repair and new motherboard, but the guy I spoke with today said they will just put in a new motherboard and send it back free of charge…including shipping both ways…Awesome link Stannis! Saved me some cash…just wish I would have found it before I bought a new laptop! No biggy kids can use it I guess…

This is a known problem by dell. Read here: Free Warranty Service for dell 310-6321 battery notebooks
I have two notebooks to send in. The reason specified on their service ticket reads: “Failure : APOLLO AND ATLANTIS MOTHERBOARD ISSUE”
The free replacement extends 24 months AFTER your original warranty.
My dell 310-6322 battery wouldnt start, then I got it to start, then the wireless was missing, then it wouldn’t start again.
