1. Acer Aspire One
The Acer Aspire One is the functional netbook that recently demantled the EeePC as the top seller in its market. This laptop has a 1.6Ghz processor and can fit a maximum of 1.5Gb RAM. It’s certainly no video editor or gaming machine, but it is small and has a lasting Sony CCD-TR2 battery. 2. Macbook Pro
It would be silly to mention a netbook and leave out a more powerful laptop, especially when many students are working areas that require some considerable grunt — multimedia and graphics, video, and audio might demand something like the Macbook Pro. This is a variable depending on your university or college, but from what I’ve seen most institutions dealing with these areas are running OS X and that makes the Macbook Pro a great choice. With Earth Day coming up this month (and Earth Hour a few days behind us), we thought it would be worthwhile this month to look at how we can stay productive without the bells and whistles of modern technology. Using paper instead of a spreadsheet, pencils instead ofthumb-boards , ink instead of e-ink may not ultimately be any Sony NP-QM90 battery better for the environment — the production of paper does a pretty big job on the environment, between the trees cut down and the chemicals used in processing it — but at least thinking about these issues should make us stop a moment and consider what we’re really doing when we throw a power switch just to enter a to-do list item.

, and then there are Ferraris. No one questions the distinction between those two groups. The same is true for ultra-portables and the Acer Ferrari One. The former are Digital Camera Battery, and the latter is, well, Ferrari. These mineral riches
These mineral riches
and increasing demand have already set off confrontations between Western corporations that want to mine the precious mineral, and Bolivia's Socialist president, Evo Morales, who prefers nationalized Digital Camera Battery companies. However, that's just the beginning of the problems. The Foreign Policy article also warns that while lithium replacing oil as the main fuel source will help the environment, there's no evidence that changing the place and resource will reduce the conflict between those who have the power, and those who want it.
This might be great news for the Bolivians, but let's remember that lithium is a non-renewable natural resource - the Saudi Arabia analogy is very apt. Some scientists are estimating that there are around 13.5 million tons of it on earth, but with our current Casio Digital Camera Battery technology, only about half of that can actually be extracted and used (according to William Tahil and the Meridian International Research - check out. The Chevy Volt's battery setup weighs about 375 lbs., and there were more than 70 million motor vehicles produced in 2008 (I'm not sure how that figure has changed since, given all the economic ups and downs we've been having).
If hybrids like the Volt get anywhere near as popular as internal-combustion cars - and if our culture gets as dependent on them, and on lithium as a power source for them - then those reserves are going to start running out eventually, and we'll be right back where we started: searching anxiously for some new energy source/storage medium, as he world's lithium reserves slowly run dry - starting with those of the USA, whose reserves are only an estimated 38,000 tons.

The concept of air batteries has been around for several years now. The idea is to replace the cathode of the battery with atmospheric air, which is practically limitless. If we can do this, we may be able to have nikon EN-EL2 battery with 10 times the storage capacity of those we have today.
Tesla EVs average about 244 miles between charges; recently, an Aussie drove one a distance of 313 miles on a single charge, a world record for EVs. Using that as a yardstick, we can assume that using air battery technology and a battery of the same weight, it would be possible to drive from coast to coast in the USA without recharging. Impressive.
If we did have such a great increase in storage capacity, of course, what would be far more practical would be to make cars with much smaller nikon EN-EL1 battery -- say, 100 lbs. or so-- that would have a much smaller range, but they would be much cheaper, much lighter and nimbler, much quicker in acceleration, and would conserve resources much better.
Other technologies are also capable of increasing a Panasonic Digital Camera Battery's energy density dramatically, and if used in conjunction with air battery technology we could conceivably have batteries weighing only 20 lbs. or so, and still giving us a very satisfying range between charges. Coating the anode with carbon nanotubes, for instance, has been claimed to also give a potential tenfold increase in energy storage-- imagine a Tesla with a battery using both technologies-- air battery and carbon nanotubes on the cathode-- that theoretically could increase range by a factor of 100, possibly giving a Tesla a theoretical driving range of 31,300 miles! The earth's circumference is about 24,800 miles, meaning that we could theoretically drive completely around the equator of the earth on a single charge!
What would be much more practical, of course, is to make the Panasonic CGA-S002 battery only as big as we really need it to drive a comfortable distance... say, 200 miles or so... meaning the car could be extremely light with great acceleration. If the battery could be reduced in weight that much, so could all the rest of the drive train-- the electric motor, the electronic controller, drive shaft, axles, etc. A very powerful, inexpensive, lightweight, practical EV could still have a very good range.

Fundamentally a battery
Fundamentally a battery
is two different metals immersed in a corrosive fluid. Since elements tend toward their natural state these two FUJIFILM NP-60 battery metals exchange electrons through the fluid causing corrosion and the exchange of electrons is where we get electricity.
I am not certain but I think the reason we have trouble making a more efficient battery is because we haven't discovered or created any new metals to try to implement into a battery system. I think the next step in creating a more efficient battery would be the use of superdense metals because in order for a normal Casio Digital Camera Battery to last longer it needs to be larger.
Mind you I am no chemist, but I have toyed around with a few different ideas about how to configure a battery that would be longer lasting and more efficient simply out of curiosity, an Idea I had come up with is using series metals where at the top you have a metal that doesn't corrode well which is followed by a metal that has limited corrosion potential on through to a metal that is easily corroded.
This way once the first metal has surrendered electrons to the second, the second metal begins shedding electrons to the third and so on down the chain. Sort of a built in reserve for the Digital Camera Battery, but without a mechanism to efficiently test my suspicion, it is unknown what the result might be.
The question in this case implies a false fact.
There have been many innovations to batteries. The problem is, these innovations cost $$$. They use many exotic materials that in many cases can only be found in specific areas of the world (that is if we are talking about the typical mobile phone or flashlight battery). Just 10 years ago, my Nokia mobile phone had a 1 hour talk time and was the size of a water bottle. We have moved away from the NiCad batteries, through the NiMH, and now use Lithium ion. The FUJIFILM NP-80 battery is smaller than the palm of my hand and it powers what is essentially a portable computer that plays music, sends and receives email, plays games, browses the internet, takes pictures, oh and makes phone calls.
To make batteries cheaper, there needs to be "innovations" in nickel mining, or lithium, or any of the other exotic materials used (which of course is nearly impossible considering the price is derived from its scarcity).
I think its because Chemists cant keep up with Physicists! Physics has produced revolution after revolution in energy.
The real question this article should ask is: "where have Biologists been in this energy arena?" They have the most efficient example of FUJIFILM NP-30 battery energy transfer on earth to use as an model (the body's digestion of organic food) and yet they have not ever produced anything that can imitate or replicate that process!
A real breakthrough would be a car that runs on Grass by imitating the stomach of a grasshopper or a cow!

But on this topic, I think the MIT discovery advancing the usefulness of fuelcells will be a much more efficient way of storing energy for our future. I think our cellphones will have fuelcells in the future.
Making and selling batteries is a business. Current batteries are probably making casio NP-30 battery producers top dollar right now so why keep upgrading and spending money on little improvements when demand is so high for what is available.
Even worse for manufacturers is what will they do if they develop batteries that are 10 times more efficient and use solar energy to recharge or maybe they sap energy from our movement? What happens is they make less money.

Come summer, Acer will enter the arena for e-book readers, releasing a device with a six-inch monochrome screen. The company will also debut an online applications store from which it will peddle apps laptop battery for Microsoft’s (MSFT) Windows and Windows Mobile operating systems and for Google’s (GOOG) Android platform.
But Acer has no plans to launch a touchscreen tablet to compete with Apple’s (AAPL) new laptop, despite the fact that Chairman J.T. Wang recently told Bloomberg his company was “developing something” along those lines.
Why the sudden change of tack? Acer President Scott Lin says that while the company is entirely capable of building a tablet device, it wouldn’t be worthwhile because it lacks a software ecosystem like Apple’s iTunes Apple A1079 Battery Store. A tablet, Lin, told DigiTimes, does not fit into Acer’s business model.
“Historically, closed platforms are typically limited in terms of scale and are confined to niche markets,” Lin said. “Apple has built its business out of carving its own niche, which means that while Apple could see success with devices like the laptop, other players are unlikely to be able to replicate its result simply by copying.”
An interesting admission, particularly since it seems to openly contradict what Wang said just about a week ago. Of course, at this point, with the laptop not yet released and the tablet market as nascent as it is, Acer’s tentative view of things is understandable. Why mess around with an unestablished, unproven Apple A1078 Battery market when the company is doing just fine peddling netbooks and other portables? Better to throw its full weight behind the broad spectrum of notebooks–traditional, ultrathin and netbook–where it’s already quite strong (Lin notes that Acer shipped about 31 million notebooks in 2009).
That said, Acer would do well to keep an eye trained on Apple. Because according to Deutsche Bank (DB), the laptop will give it claim to about seven percent of the low-end computer Apple A1148 Battery market by 2011. Said Deutsche Bank’s Chris Whitmore: “We expect the laptop to compete very well against existing low-end notebooks and netbooks, particularly in the segment of the market where surfing, reading, game playing and emailing dominate the usage model.”
Google, Apple, Microsoft – all the silicon valley giants are fighting it out in the mobile world today. Its no brainer that mobile is the next big thing (it actually is already). And with the little flood of patents that these MNC’s have filed, we can expect tones of innovation in the mobile space. However the need to release a product at a certain (Read affordable) price point is what Apple now realizes, and thus you have the laptop going for as low as $499. This makes it as cheap as the original 1st Gen iPhone in 2007. What enables Apple to sell you a full multitouch 9.7″ tablet for $499? No camera, no HD output, no projector as rumored … basically its a low cost airline with the latest Boeing jets. Apple has developed its own A4 chip that was before the launch rumored to be “the most powerful, lowest-cost SoC in the industry”. This seems to be true, given the fact that we saw amazing gaming and Apple M9324 Battery life on the laptop. (Jobs did announce that the A4 system-on-chip includes processor, graphics, I/O, and memory controller in one package).
While its still unclear if the same features a standard netbook shape or a mediapad as many believe it to be.
